McGinnis & Associates Announces Closing IT Consulting Department to Focus on Core Business Lines

McGinnis and Associates, Inc. began HR, Payroll, and ERP software sales, implementation, and support in 1992. As the capabilities and hardware requrements increased in the late 90's, they began to provide IT consulting to their small business customers under the trade name of MCG Business Solutions. According to William McGinnis, President of McGinnis & Associates, "many of our small business customers did not have IT staff to handle the specialized needs of the new software, and having the expertise on our staff allowed us to ensure that our software performed at its peak level. However as use of IIS, SQL and the like have become common in our larger clients, who have a well trained staff, and our smaller clients move to the cloud, an extensive IT staff is no longer necesary to support our customers."
Customers using MCG Business Solutions IT services will still have support, however. McGinnis & Associates sold the rights to their trade name "MCG Business Solutions", and the rights to support its IT customers, to Chris Morton, former manager of IT Consulting. Mr. Morton has created a new company and incorporated under MCG Business Solutions, Inc. This new corporation will operate under separate management and ownership.
According to Mr. McGinnis, "Although this may create some confusion in the community that we are still one company, it will give our IT customers a continuity of service, and allow Chris Morton, who's been with us for many years, the opportunity to capitalize on the goodwill our IT department "MCG Business Solutions" generated."
More importantly it allows McGinnis & Associates to allocate more resources to their core lines of business, HR, Payroll, and ERP, as it expands across the US.
